The development of teams is a core competence of TMS, generated from conducting hundreds of workshops with teams from many different industries and functions.
We have learnt that providing regular time and space for teams to stop and reflect on how the team operates; to understand what it does really well; and to identify what could be improved is vitally important to building high performing teams.
In contrast, teams that do not take time out to develop get stuck in what they've always done!
TMS facilitators utilise a mixture of cutting edge team best practice, action learning, and team assessment profiles to guide teams to high performance.
TMS Provides:
Team Management Profile Workshops
To really get a team humming the team interpersonal dynamics need to be understood. Each team member should understand their own work style, and the work styles of their colleagues. This understanding brings enhanced team communication, and task completion processes.
The Team Management Profile is a diagnostic tool, which measures a person's work preferences. It is amazingly accurate, and people really enjoy the process of finding out more about themselves and colleagues.
A Team Management Profile workshop suits:
- new and forming teams,
- teams who need to improve communication, and
- already great teams that want to understand themselves better.
Team Diagnostic Profile Workshops
The Team Diagnostic Profile is a formal team assessment based on the 'Star Performing Team' model. The profile presents feedback from team members and also from important external stakeholders. This is a great process for teams to really take stock and understand how they are performing.
In these workshops strengths are identified and leveraged; development opportunities are agreed, solutions are developed, and action plans are created.
"I was amazed by the results from this exercise and have used this information to my advantage since completing this exercise"
- Rob Kirkwood, Transpacific Industries
Team Planning Workshops
TMS team planning workshops are focused on alignment and engagement. All teams need to invest time to understand the organisation's strategy and to determine team objectives and priorities.
Flowing out of team objectives individuals are able to ensure clarity of their individual objectives.
Full team involvement and agreement in this process increases buy-in and commitment.
TMS has developed a simple robust process to drive the planning process. All output is documented and formatted by TMS after the workshop to ensure transfer back to the workplace.
Team Values Workshop
These workshops are all about agreeing a shared set of behavioural expectations. TMS guides teams to develop and agree what it means to be part of the team, and how to work in line with team and organisational values.
Research shows that teams that have clarity of direction and a clear set of behavioural expectations perform better than those teams that don't.
"TMS were excellent - responsive, insightful and grounded. I learnt a lot about myself, my colleagues, and the team."
- Paul Conder, Chief Financial Officer, Unitec
Team Action Learning Activities
Because people learn best by doing TMS incorporates action learning activities into all its workshop processes.
Sometimes busy teams just need a pat on the back to know that they are valued, and the opportunity to blow off some steam together. TMS has a range of action learning activities - these are good fun action oriented 'missions'. The big missions are complex half day outside 'save the world' scenarios.
Choose an action learning activity for your team if you want them to have a blast and learn teamwork tips and tricks at the same time. Activities can be briefed to set learning objectives, and then debriefed to draw key insights about team processes.
These activities easily cater to all levels of fitness.
